It’s so nice to have the old internet back up and running in proper order again.  Here’s this week’s selection of lyrics and remember, you all are welcome to chime in with your own suggestions in the comments below!

“Oh, but I’ve got a plan – Why don’t you be the artist and make me out of clay.  Why don’t you be the writer and decide the words I say, ’cause I’d rather pretend I’ll still be there at the end, only it’s too hard to ask, won’t you try to help me…”

~ The Writer (Live at the Cherrytree House) by: Ellie Goulding

“Company, always on the run.  Destiny, ooh is a rising sun.  Ohoh.  I was born, six-gun in my hand.  Behind a gun, I’ll make my final stand…”

~ Bad Company by: Bad Company

“It’s too late now to stop the process, this was your choice, you let it in.  This double life you lead is eating you up from within.  One thousand shards of glass, you pushed beneath my skin, left me lying there to bleed…”

  1. Interesting choices: Bad Company a real blast from the past, Apacolyptica are not a band that I am familiar with, but will go and check out.

Three now for you to peruse:

    You showed me that silence,
    That haunts this troubled world,
    You showed me that silence
    Can speak louder than words
    (Silent Air by The Sound)

    Natasja Scotch so calm
The world upstairs may as well be gone
And so what if the world explodes
If you’re dancing with the one you love?
    (Natasja Scotch by The Search)

Mother I tried please believe me,
I’m doing the best that I can.
I’m ashamed of the things I’ve been put through,
I’m ashamed of the person I am.
    (Isolation by Joy Division)

    Happy listening!

    1. Oh, Chris, thank you so much for sharing these! I think I could listen to The Sound and The Search all day long! They both have amazing sounds, really provocative on the eardrums. 🙂 Joy Division, that made me feel so nostalgic for sitting in front of the big box TV watching the original MTV.

      1. Oh, my gosh, my apologies, I truly meant ‘evocative’ NOT ‘provocative!’

      2. I don’t know whether you already have or are interested in looking into each of the former bands but…
The Search are a Swedish band and some of their albums are available to download for free (and legally!) Via archive.org. They also have a WP account : thesearchsweden.wordpress
The Sound were a little known (in England, though not in other parts of Europe) English band from the 1980’s. Their singer/ guitarist/ songwriter, Adrian Borland, released some solo albums before his suicide in 1999. Check out brittleheaven.com.
Glad you enjoyed these, and happy listening – Chris.

  2. Apacolyptica – an interesting take on metal/ rock/ goth. Quite like what I’ve listened too so far!

    1. They’re definitely a different kind of band, because they do no singing on their own, only play their instruments and have singers from other bands come in to do their songs. I really enjoy most of their work, though. 🙂
