Triple Lyric Tuesday

It’s Tuesday! Plug the headphones in and check this week’s choices out on YouTube or wherever you prefer to completely rock out…

“I got a cold stare, the wound’s still there
But there ain’t much left to bleed
Short fuse, that I still use
I’m my own worst enemy
I stare at the faces I once knew
Lined up just to bury me
There’s a long black car that’s waiting to leave
But right now, there’s someone lookin’ out for me…”

“Up in Memphis the music’s like a heatwave
White lightning, bound to drive you wild
Mama’s baby is in the heart of every school girl
“Love me tender” leaves ’em cryin’ in the aisle
The way he moved, it was a sin, so sweet and true
Always wanting more, he’d leave you longing for…”

Aaron Lewis (Staind) ft. Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit)

8760Outside (Live from the Family Values Tour)

“All the times
That I’ve cried
All this wasted
It’s all inside
And I feel
All this pain
Stuffed it down
It’s back again
And I lie
Here in bed
All alone
I can’t mend
And I feel
Tomorrow will be okay…”

  1. Really like ‘Outside’, and it’s performed with real feeling.
I remember seeing Alannah Myles supporting Robert Plant many, many years ago – a good gig, after which they (Plant and Myles) apparently had a dalliance. Anyway, enough said about that.
A couple for yourself now –

I want to be the one to help you find those years
    That you’ve been talking about.
    Dreaming of the South
    And all those lost goodbyes,
    And all those lonely tears,
    You never got to cry

‘Walking Through That Door’ by Future Islands

    You gave me a present
The paper was blue and green
    I unwrapped it with pleasure
These are the best shades I’ve ever seen
    You can be my girlfriend
    Forever and a day
I never thought I was worth much
Or that anyone would treat me this way

    ‘Shades’ by Iggy Pop

Thanks for your post, and enjoy!

    • Future Islands! I’ve listened to “Swept Inside,” and “As I Fall” as well as “Walking Through That Door” and I am really enjoying their sound. Thanks for sharing, Chris!

      • Yes, there are a few bands around who have adopted and updated the ’80’s’ sound, Future Islands being one of those who have achieved it more successfully, I think. Happy listening!
