I want to give my boys most of the credit for this week’s selections, as two of the songs Pompeii and Happy are new additions to my music library that they’ve introduced me to. The third choice, as everyone knows, may not be very old, but became an instant classic. (Psst… I also added links to each video under the pictures to make it easier for everyone to check them out) – Hope you enjoy!
~ Pompeii by: Bastille
“I was left to my own devices
Many days fell away with nothing to show
“And the walls kept tumbling down
In the city that we love
Great clouds roll over the hills
Bringing darkness from above…”
~ Zoot Suit Riot by: Cherry Poppin’ Daddies
“A whipped up jitterbuggin’ brown eyed man
A stray cat frontin’ up an eight-piece band
Cut me Sammy and you’ll understand
In my veins, hot music ran
“You got me in a sway
and I want to swing you dove
Now you sailors know
Where your women come for love…”
~ Happy by: Pharrell Williams
“It might seem crazy what I’m ’bout to say
Sunshine she’s here, you can take a break
[I’m a] hot air balloon that could go to space
With the air like ‘I don’t care baby, by the way’…”

I played Zoot Suit Riot last year with my jazz band, and found it addictively catchy-and thats without the lyrics!
