Honest Opinion

Good morning!  So, I have a favor to ask everyone – in light of all this advice I’ve been dishing out, I finally decided to follow it, myself.  It’s also an attempt to follow the DIY guy’s advice on how best to design your blog to be more user friendly for readers.

I’ve completely remodeled my Books landing page on the menu and added the Free Content I went over a couple of posts ago.  I took it one step further (per Derek Murphy’s suggestion) and placed a linked book cover on the side bar there ——>

Does it look cheesy?  I can’t decide if I like it or not.  I might just stick with the links being under the Books menu, instead.  It feels a little over the top braggy to me, but maybe that’s what they mean by “Shameless Self-Promotion”?

I could really use your feedback, if you don’t mind leaving your honest opinion in the comments below.

Thanks!

I love the new look blog. It looks clean and friendly.
About having your book covers on the side bar. I say keep them there. There are authors who pay money to have their books on other people’s sidebar. This is your blog. Why shouldn’t you promote your own books?

  2. I like it!

And I’m with Karissa – who’s going to promote you better than you? Your blog, your books. It IS all about YOU. 👍😎😀

  3. I agree with Karissa and Felicia, of course you should promote your own books in your blog. And the way you’ve presented the covers is very reader-friendly, this isn’t pushy at all. As a reader I appreciate exactly this kind of self-promotion from an author. I love looking at yummy cover art. In my opinion “shameless self-promotion” would be if the covers were blinking or shooting stars so that I couldn’t focus on reading the blog, or if you had pop-ups screaming “Buy my book!”.

My point being: I love what you’ve done here! 😀

    1. Lol Thanks, Anna! Yet another thing I hadn’t considered was the love for cover art, that’s a good point! 🙂
