#SongLyricSunday ♫ “Call Me” – Blondie

SongLyricSunday

While beta readers are having a go at Scavenger, I’ve been working on getting ready for April’s Camp NaNo. Is anyone else going to be participating in Camp NaNo this year? I plan to attempt finishing Thief of Dragons, which I started with the November NaNoWriMo 2 years ago already! Time flies when you’re having fun? Okay, ya, it flies regardless, which is why it’s already Sunday again – time for another music challenge hosted by Helen over at This Thing Called Life One Word at a Time!

This week’s theme is: Phone Calls/Calling

Uh…yes, of course the first thing that came to mind was Blondie! I’m a total 80’s child, #sorrynotsorry. Hitting No. 1 on charts in 1980 after playing during the opening credits of American Gigolo featuring a much younger Richard Gere than Julia Roberts got to reverse role play with –  “Call Me” was thankfully included on the Best of Blondie album (I mean the vinyl record) allowing weirdos like me to jam out to all of the band’s awesome tracks without moving the needle. Enjoy!

Color me your color, baby
Color me your car
Color me your color, darling
I know who you are
Come up off your color chart
I know where you’re comin’ from

Call me (call me) on the line
Call me, call me any, anytime
Call me (call me) my love
You can call me any day or night
Call me

Cover me with kisses, baby
Cover me with love
Roll me in designer sheets
I’ll never get enough
Emotions come, I don’t know why
Cover up love’s alibi

Call me (call me) on the line
Call me, call me any, anytime
Call me (call me) oh love
When you’re ready we can share the wine
Call me

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, he speaks the languages of love
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, amore, chiamami, chiamami
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, appelle-moi mon cherie, appelle-moi

Anytime, anyplace, anywhere, any way
Anytime, anyplace, anywhere, any day-ay

Call me (call me) my love
Call me, call me any, anytime
Call me (call me) for a ride
Call me, call me for some overtime
Call me (call me) my love
Call me, call me in a sweet design
Call me (call me), call me for your lover’s lover’s alibi
Call me (call me) on the line
Call me, call me any, anytime
Call me (call me)

Oh, call me, oh, oh, ah
Call me (call me) my love
Call me, call me any, anytime

  1. I had a feeling this one would be a popular choice. Instantly a classic though.

    1. It was this song and “Billy” by Phil Collins/Genesis – this one seemed to be a better fit, though. Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

  3. #SorryNotSorry about that same thing. This song was used in a drunk driving campaign once. It worked. Good one.

  7. Can’t believe that I forgot about this one. I’m a 70s kid and still have her singles…”The Tide Is HIgh”…Can you hear me humming? 🙂

    1. LOL, yes! I was born in the late mid 70’s so even though I have influence from that decade, the 80’s were the background for my teen years when music records all of our best memories, so that’s why I claim to be an 80’s child, that was just the music scene I remember the greatest

      1. I was born in early 70s but everything played in the house (50s, 60s.) I loved my disco!

  8. Geeze, can’t believe all the posted songs that I thought about too. This was one of them! Such a classic…love it!

While I’m here…AHEM! Remember that Nickleback song you told me about…’Follow You Home?”

I AM HOOKED! Think I’m scaring the mister and am sure I’ve traumatized Drew! ROFL!

    My favorite part? This…

    ‘Cause you’re my Mississippi Princess
    You’re my California Queen
    Like the Duchess of Detroit
    And every city in between

Why? Because I was born in Ole Miss, lived in Cali for twenty years, and grew up an hour an a half outside Detroit! It’s my anthem…even though it is just a ‘tad’ bit stalkerish! LMAO! LMAO! 😀
