#SongLyricSunday ♫ “Starts With One” – Shiny Toy Guns

Not the current line-up, but the band as it was when this song was recorded.

Speaking of numbers, my youngest turned 16 yesterday and his birthday dinner turned into an all night family fun event at my parents house about 30 minutes away – which is no excuse for not getting my post scheduled last night, but I’m using it anyway. 😀

Helen’s story behind her reason for choosing this week’s theme reminded me of this funny quirk one of my best friends and her sister always do whenever they catch the clock reading consecutive numbers, they always race to be the first one to text each other. I found this out once while visiting her and her phone started blowing up at 12:34 in the afternoon. It really is funny the things we notice sometimes.

If you haven’t guessed, this week’s theme is: Numbers

I always try to find songs from a different band than one I’ve already posted, but since I’m running way behind, another Shiny Toy Gun song is what I have off the top of my head. If you’d like to join in the fun or check out all of the other songs, hop on over to Helen’s blog at This Thing Called Life One Word at a Time!

Enjoy!

Starts with One I can feel
It’s on your mind anyway
I can’t heal
Make me feel this way
Oh…

Now, there’s Two I can’t see
(I can’t see)
I’ve never felt this way
I can’t feel
(I can’t feel)
Anything anyway

Let’s show them
The only way
Let’s show them
Our hearts

Only Three I can’t seem
(I can’t seem)
To get enough anyway
I can’t scream
(I can’t scream)
Nothing to say anyway

Let’s show them
The only way
Let’s show them
Our hearts

Let’s show them
The only way
Let’s sew up
Their hearts

Distorted light moves in
Or am I mistaken?

It feels so
Feels so
Feels so cold

It feels so
Feels so
Feels so cold

There goes today
It slowly fades…slowly fades away
Here comes today
Never go…never go away

(never…)

  1. I loved this song!! I’m going to have to add the band to my playlists!!

Numbers are a strange phenomenon. Maybe they do mean something, eh? 😉

    1. Yay, always happy to corrupt…er…inspire new fans! 😀 This is an older song, they have a new female lead, but their sound is still great.

Yep, numbers are intriguing, but considering almost everything can be turned into a mathematical equation or formula, maybe it’s not that far fetched that they play a more integral role than we give them credit for. (This coming from a math flunky! LOL)

  3. Thank you! It’s my first time listening to this band. For some reason it’s reminding me of when I lived in Japan and went to the disco with my friends.

    1. They seem to have a particular sound that strikes a nostalgic chord for people, I think that’s one of their greatest appeals. Glad you liked it & thanks for commenting! 🙂
