#SongLyricSunday & #RocktoberMusicfest ♫ “Far From Home” – Five Finger Death Punch

5FingerDeathPunch

WordPress just informed me that it’s my 5 year Blogiversary AND it’s also Helen’s Birthday today! Virtual champagne all around, today is a day of celebrations… but you might want to start after listening to my pick for today, because it’s not very celebratory. Since I’m partaking in two music challenges this month, I’ve combined this post for both #SLS & #RMF. Make sure to jump over to Helen’s blog, This Thing Called Life One Word at a Time, by clicking on the theme link below – and then scroll down to the linky link to stop by Mary B.’s blog, Jingle, Jangle, Jungle, so you can check out all the other songs for today.

This week’s themes is: Find/Found

Well, thanks to our fabulous #SLS hostess (and birthday girl) my new favorite song for this theme is now “Find Me” by Sigma, but since she used that one last week and I need a rock song for #RMF, I decided to go with an old fave of mine by Five Finger Death Punch in honor of my 5 years with WP. Enjoy!

Another day in this carnival of souls
Another nights ends, end as quickly as it goes
The memories are shadows, ink on the page
And I can’t seem to find my way home

And it’s almost like
Your heaven’s trying everything
Your heaven’s trying everything
To keep me out

All the places I’ve been and things I’ve seen
A million stories that made up a million shattered dreams
The faces of people I’ll never see again
And I can’t seem to find my way home

‘Cause it’s almost like
Your heaven’s trying everything
To break me down

‘Cause it’s almost like
Your heaven’s trying everything
To keep me out

‘Cause it’s almost like
Your heaven’s trying everything
To break me down

‘Cause it’s almost like
Your heaven’s trying everything
Your heaven’s trying everything
To break me down
To break me down
To break me down

Your heaven’s trying everything
Your heaven’s trying everything
To break me, down

  1. Melody,

My son introduced 5FDP to me years ago. The band members are former military dudes for that reason I like them a lot despite their hard edge appearance but what surprised me is how much I liked their vocals. The mewsic is generally heavier than I like but occasionally they’ll have a ballad that I like. This is a nice song. You’re not going to believe it but I’m featuring one fo their songs this week. 🙂 I’d love to participate in SLS more regularly but the theme doesn’t show up until late Saturdays making it difficult for me to join in on the fun. 😦 It would be so pAwesome if Helen had a list of upcoming themes on her blog for folks like me who want to do posts ahead. Oh well…I’ll drop by to wish her a happy birthday. You might want to join the 4M party today. This week is theme-based but we aren’t mewsic snobs, so hit the dance floor with us! 🙂

    • They do have some good ones, so I’m glad your son turned you onto them! 🙂 SLS can be difficult to stay caught up on, I sometimes miss it for the same reason, not being able to schedule far in advance, but Helen revealed that next week’s theme is “Hidden” if you want to give it a shot. Unfortunately, I woke up with a chest cold this morning, so I missed everything today,

      • Melody,

I’m sorry you aren’t feeling well. I hope the ‘chest cold’ is only allergies that soon clear up. DH is bothered with a lot of sinus drainage which is trying to making it’s way into his tummy. I always worry when it get that thick because it sometimes gets into the lungs. Take it easy and rock on! Oh yeah, thanks for the heads up on Helen’s theme for next weekend. I will definitely try to work it in!
