#RocktoberMusicfest ♪ “The Kill” – Thirty Seconds To Mars

Jared Leto as The Joker in “Suicide Squad”

Look, it’s Mr. J playing Mr. J!

Hehe, I couldn’t help myself. But loooooooooong before Jared Leto was winning Oscars for blockbuster hits like The Dallas Buyers Club or taking on the role of the greatest super-villain ever created, he was making music with his band, Thirty Seconds to Mars. “The Kill” was the first song I ever heard by them, but 30STM’s sound evolved over the years with quite a lot of success. I like tracks from a variety of their albums, as my bloggers know, because this isn’t the first time I’ve featured them. 🙂

Plus, as we creep closer to Halloween, this video is a great start to put you in the mood for haunting horrors; it’s kind of like The Shining meets Ghost Ship with a 30STM twist.

  1. Melody,

I’ve heard of 30 Seconds to Mars but I’m not super familiar with their mewsic nor did I know that lead singer, Jered Leto is an actor, too. “The Kill” is a bit too much for my ears this morning. I think I might be able to enjoy it better a little later in the day. It’s the vocal mostly that get me. I do appreciate the introduction, though. Have a rock n’ roll good time today!

    1. No worries, it is a bit screamy, so I understand. It’s rare to find a completely mellow song by them, honestly, but I think their newer albums are a bit calmer. He also did a cover of Rihanna’s “Stay” which is very nice.

Technically, Jared Leto was an actor before he was a singer, but he achieved fame for being a musician before he ever made it big in Hollywood. I guess my post is a bit misleading about that now that I read it again – sorry about that!

  2. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen their video before, but I am certain that I have heard the music previously. I like it when artists are multi-talented.

    1. Thanks, Mary, me too! 🙂 I was just replying to Cathy and realized I kind of messed up in my post. Even though Jared became famous for music before acting, he was actually an actor first. I had it backwards, so I apologize for that.
