It’s the last Sunday of the month; last collaboration of these two great musical challenges. I’m hitting you with another chart topper by Breaking Benjamin, because I don’t have time to search for anything else and I’ve already posted “Giving In” by Adema. And while I find the video for “Gives You Hell” by All American Rejects funny, it’s not exactly hard rock, which is what I was aiming for this last week of HALLOWEEN month!
This week’s theme is: Give/Giving
Fun Fact: Almost all of Ben Burnley’s songs are inspired by his very real phobias and paranoia’s, of which he has so many, he travels by sea for European tours, because he is deathly afraid of flying. In an interview at the release of the album Phobia, he admitted that the amount of his fears is: “You name it, I’ve got it” and revealed the album had been named after this part of himself. One of those phobias is getting sick, and The Dear Agony album cover is his actual brain scan, manipulated, of course, to show the popular Breaking Benjamin logo inside it. Ben did fall deathly ill due to alcoholism before getting his new band together, and claims he is still fighting this illness. The Dark Before Dawn album, which was the first released by the new band, symbolizes a new hope for the lead singer, though, rather than an old fear; it has the ultrasound image of his son in the sun.
Enjoy!
Dead star shine
Light up the sky
I’m all out of breath
My walls are closing in
Days go by
Give me a sign
Come back to the end
The shepherd of the damned
I can feel you falling away
No longer the lost
No longer the same
And I can see you starting to break
I’ll keep you alive
If you show me the way
Forever, and ever
The scars will remain
I’m falling apart
Leave me here forever in the dark
[music]
Daylight dies
Blackout the sky
Does anyone care?
Is anybody there?
Take this life
Empty inside
I’m already dead
I’ll rise to fall again
I can feel you falling away
No longer the lost
No longer the same
And I can see you starting to break
I’ll keep you alive
If you show me the way
Forever, and ever
The scars will remain
I’m falling apart
Leave me here forever in the dark
God help me I’ve come undone
Out of the light of the sun
[God help me I’ve come undone
Out of the light of the sun]
I can feel you falling away
No longer the lost
No longer the same
And I can see you starting to break
I’ll keep you alive
If you show me the way
Forever, and ever
The scars will remain
Give me a sign
There’s something buried in the words
Give me a sign
Your tears are adding to the flood
Just give me a sign
There’s something buried in the words
Give me a sign
Your tears are adding to the flood
[Just give me a sign
There’s something buried in the words
Give me a sign
Your tears are adding to the flood]
Forever, and ever
The scars will remain
