One of the most enjoyable aspects of sharing music is when you get the chance to show off a new-found favorite almost right away. Thanks to Jim’s advanced theme lists, I’ve been sitting on this bad-boy for at least 2 weeks now, but I’m so happy I get to share it even that quickly. Make sure you stop by Jim’s blog, A Unique Title For Me, to check out the rules for joining in the fun, or to listen to all of the other great picks for today!
This week’s theme is: Dream/Lullaby/Sleep
What’s even more exciting about getting to pick a brand spanking new BB song, is that I’ll be seeing them in concert for the first time at the end of September (with Chevelle & Three Days Grace!!!) and I can’t freaking wait! I’m in the mosh pit, baby – White River Amphitheater, here we come!!! 😀
Breaking Benjamin’s new album “Ember” is already proving to be packed with hits just like all of their previous albums, even though Ben Burnley’s trying his hand at some heavier sounds and quite a bit more grrrr scream-ish areas interspersed in all of his ballad-worthy vocals. He’s staying true to writing deep, soul and gut-punching lyrics that make you think, make you feel – or adds more lead to your foot while driving! This particular track is the ‘slow’ song of the entire album and has no screaming, but the small amount of lyrics are heavy hitters and quite apt for the times.
I will take full credit for this song getting stuck in your head, you’re welcome. Crank up the volume and feel that thunder roll in…Enjoy!
It must have been inside my head
I’ve lost the hope that I have left
And now, at last, it comes to pass
We sleep, we dream, we have no less
Along the path we lost our way
It’s all a game that I must play
And now the weak that fall
Return to ash, defeated after all
Fade away to the wicked world we lived
And I become the dark of you
Say a prayer for the wounded heart within as I become the dark of you
Let go, we know this kind of life
We live, we breathe, we die
They call me to the light, forever lost in time
With every dream we find
We feed, we burn, we lie
The fall of humankind
The everlasting line
Fade away to the wicked world we lived
And I become the dark of you
Say a prayer for the wounded heart within as I become the dark of you
Let go, we know this kind of life
We live, we breathe, we die
They call me to the light, forever lost in time
With every dream we find
We feed, we burn, we lie
The fall of humankind
The everlasting line
Fade away to the wicked world we lived
And I become the dark of you
Say a prayer for the wounded heart within as I become the dark of you
Save this selfish world
(Let go) save this selfish world
(Let go) save this selfish world
(Let go) save this selfish world

I have never been in a mosh pit, but it does sound like fun, if you don’t get hurt. This is a really nice song, thanks for sharing your music again.

I’m hoping we don’t get hurt, but this is my son’s graduation present, his first concert ever, so I wanted him to get the full experience. Lol Thanks for giving it a listen! 😊

“Say a prayer for the wounded heart within as I become the dark of you…”
I can relate strongly to that! 👍
Kudos for again introducing me to something out of my zone.
Have fun at the concert…Wild Thing! 😄

BB has a knack of writing some pretty deep and relatable lyrics. He once said in an interview something like he wanted every sentence to be its own, to be taken in any way the listener wanted to take it. That’s not verbatim, but close.
Anyway, this is Xan’s graduation present, he’s never been to a rock concert before, so we’re going for the full experience! Lol 😎😁
