I have two this week, both favorites of mine that have been in my music library for quite awhile. Linkin Park’s “Roads Untraveled” is off of their Living Things album released in 2012. It was the first album showcasing LP’s “new” sound, and gave us hits like “Castle of Glass” and “Burn It Down” among others. Despite fan complaints over the new sound being too different from their original one, Living Things hit #1 on over 20 music charts around the world during its debut week – 4 charts in the US, alone. I was captured by the uniqueness of this song right away, the metallic chimes that remind me of some kind of steampunk music box invention combined with my favorite instrument, the piano, left me helplessly infatuated. I wish there were more lyrics, honestly, but it’s still a good song to listen to.

The song is sung mainly by Mike Shinoda with Chester Bennington as backup, until the final verse when it switches. Enjoy!

“Give Me Love” by Ed Sheeran was one of the first songs I ever heard from the UK superstar. I’m one of those people who rarely listens to the radio, so I usually “happen” upon new music after falling down the rabbit hole that is YouTube. The song was a last minute addition to Ed’s debut studio album: + (Plus), and according to SongFacts, “fell out” of him in about 20 minutes. He didn’t even write it down. It hit #18 on the UK charts, #9 in Australia, and the video stars Australian actress, Isabel Lucas, known for her roles in Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen, Daybreakers, Red Dawn and more.
