I’m always struggling to find content for this blog. I used to be so much more prolific here, constantly publishing new posts. Of course, back when I first started, I had the WP Daily Prompts helping me out. I really miss that feature and wish they’d bring it back.
It’s not that I need WP to find a daily prompt. All that takes is a Google search. What WP provided was a way to connect with other bloggers right away. It was the difference between writing an article people may never see and having them standing in line, waiting for their copy.
It was like walking into a crowded conference room, where everyone’s discussing the same topic.
It was about the community of it: finding amazing blogs to follow and gaining a number of followers in the process. And every day we were engaging with one another because we were contributing to the same Daily Prompt.
Ever since that was shut down, my blog has gone from Happy Hour at the Speakeasy to **crickets**
The thing is, I don’t want Blog Hops to be the only way I’m able to connect with others. I used to take part in a music blog hop because that’s another aspect of my life I’m very passionate about and I do miss having the musical element here.
But I always wanted this platform to be a space where I could showcase my love for creative writing and be able to have those discussions and interactions with other writers.
Instead, it’s become primarily a place for Indie Resources with the occasional creative piece thrown in. And don’t get me wrong, I love sharing resources, experiences, and helpful tips with other writers…
It’s just not what I wanted the sole focus of my blog to be.
Recently, I shared that I’ve joined Nortina’s Poetry Challenge, but as everyone can see, that’s not going so well. I’m still going to check her daily prompts, though, and hope for inspiration.
In the meantime, I’ve been trying to decide the best way to get this blog back to its original purpose. I want to feel that excitement again. The one that would propel me to my laptop first thing to see what new posts and creative prompts were floating around to contribute to and talk about with my fellow bloggers.
Speaking of connecting: I want to share this blog I found belonging to Julie Shiel who is a genuine wordsmith. She writes some of the best poetry that just gives me all the feels. I recommend her blog to anyone looking to connect with more creative types.
While you’re all checking her blog out, I’m going to get back to planning how to provide more creative content. I hope to renew the inspiring and energetic atmosphere this space used to be—sooner rather than later.
