#FridayFilmReview

I haven’t done a post about movies in awhile, and that’s probably because I’m so far behind on them, my reviews are way older than yesterday’s news. But, I have watched a few lately that were actually released within the last five years. 😀 While I try not have spoilers, some of these might have very small infractions to that, but nothing that would ruin the movie, promise. Curtains, please!

BlackPanther

Black Panther

Wakanda Forever! I know, I’m soooooo slow at catching up on movies, and this was one that I wanted to see soooooo freaking bad! And I finally did, like 3 times in a row! LOL I watched it by myself, then grabbed my youngest and was like “Watch this!” and then grabbed my oldest and was like “Watch this!” and it was just as awesome the third time as it was the first. Wow, I was blown away by the total change up of antagonists, and the back story to that was just…man, it’s so hard when you actually feel for the bad guy. I loved the way this movie’s plot played out and seeing actors I knew from some of my favorite shows like Sterling Brown, who had a recurring role on Supernatural for awhile and then seeing Angela Bassett play Queen Ramonda was totally badass, that role was so hers. This movie had everything you could ever want in ANY movie, but especially a superhero movie! “I never freeze.” LOL I could go on and on, but everyone’s probably already seen it a million times, so I better stop now. This is just making me want to go watch it again.

Deadpool2Banner

Deadpool 2

What can I say about our second assault from the Merc With A Mouth? Well, a lot, actually which is why I’m already working on my new “Top 10 Things I Learned From Watching Deadpool” post – coming soon! 🙂  Just like Black Panther, I’ve already watched this movie a few times and will most likely watch it again before completing my top 10 post. So aside from Hello, it’s Deadpool, what’s not to love? I’m saving the rest for that list.

AvengersInfinityWar

Avengers Infinity War

I dove right into this movie all gung-ho just like I do any other Marvel movie and it was freaking awesome and every time another one of the hero groups appeared, it was like “Whooooo!” and  “Pump the hate brakes, Thanos!” – oh, wait, Deadpool said that. THEN I was left with this utterly jaw-dropped, mind-fracked…WTF just happened? Seriously, what in the hell did I just watch? Avengers, go to the corner! You’re ALL effin’ grounded and I don’t even want to talk to you until after I see the next installment and you better PRAY that it redeems the whole lot of you. That was just…no. Okay, but on a slightly more serious note: It’s a good, action-packed, all-star movie and of course, if you’ve been watching them up until now then you definitely don’t want to miss it or you will be completely lost.

TheGirlOnTheTrain

The Girl On The Train

O.M.G. This movie. It was a little slow for my normal taste, but totally worth it! No, I didn’t read the book first, so I had no idea how it was going to turn out. I was right there with the main character the whole time, unsure, unclear, worried, fearful, what happened that night? Who’s crazy, who’s lying, who did what? UGH! Just brilliant, totally genius. If you like a suspenseful ‘Who Dunnit’ with a MC you’re not even sure you want to be rooting for, yet you do anyway, because by the time you start questioning it, you’re already so invested – this is totally your movie. I don’t want to spoil it, so I will say no more – but it also has an all-star cast, peeps and I lurve me some Luke Evans, especially naked Luke Evans! 😛

RedSparrow

Red Sparrow

F@#^ Yes! Do it again. I want to see it again, because I didn’t know how this was all going to add up and now it’s too late! Oh, my movie madness friends! This is one of those brilliant, yet unfortunate films, that reveals all at the end – which I LOVE – but watching them a second time never has quite the same impact and I wish I could forget it and do it all over again, I liked it that much! This is kind of what would happen if Oceans 11 had a baby with Bourne Identity, yet completely all its own at the same time. Girl power all the way. Survivor power all the way. Get ready to never know what will happen next, what anything means or who to trust. Just sit back and enjoy the ride and savor it, revel in it, you’ll be so happy that you did – and talk about another all-star cast! My only singular complaint for this film was Jennifer Lawrence’s unconvincing Russian accent, but honestly, it’s not even enough to make me care like at all. I loved this movie, beginning to end.

passengers

Passengers

I liked this, and I would recommend people watch it at least once, because it has a lot of good-time fun, humor, a wide range of emotions, suspense and action in it. I was a little disappointed by the end, I felt it was missing something, a bit anti-climatic for the kind of build-up it had. Almost like the screenwriter lost their momentum and just gave it a lame kind of meh…the end…but all in all it was a great way to spend a couple of hours. I’m a fan of both Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt (support your locals!) and seeing Laurence Fishburne again was awesome for a minute. I would’ve destroyed the android bartender on day one, though, that was just too “The Shining” or something – thing gave me the creeps and I kept expecting it to say something like “Resistance is futile” or ask if anyone knew where Sarah Conner was – but that’s just me. Five stars to Michael Sheen just for pulling that skin-crawling “I am not even remotely human” vibe off, wow. I also acquired the valuable foresight to never go swimming in a ship that has the ability to go to zero gravity at any given time. Now where was that stroke of brilliance at the end, writers? Okay, I’m done. Watch it!

With all the problems I’ve had with my hands this year, I’ve had way too much time to watch TV and I did! Here are some shows that I enjoy, anyone else watch them too?

#RocktoberMusicFest ♪ “Carry On My Wayward Son” – Kansas

Whoa, why are we back in the 70’s? Because, my life in music is a bit backwards. It wasn’t until I became a bartender in my early 20’s that I started listening to a lot of classic rock again. It couldn’t be helped, when that was the only thing on the jukebox…not that I’m complaining! I had to pick carefully for today’s post, because I’m running out of days for #RMF, so unfortunately can’t share all of my classic rock favorites from this time in my life. But, I can name them: Bad Company, Fleetwood Mac, Bob Seger, Don McLean, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Blue Oyster Cult, Tommy James and The Shondells, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, The Doors, and I’m sure a handful more that I just can’t recall off the top of my head.

My favorite song by Kansas is actually “Dust in the Wind”. It’s one of those songs that reaches right in and grabs me in all the feels for the total sound of it. The music, the voice, the entirety of it is a masterful composition.

However, I am a die hard Supernatural fan. Anyone who follows me on Instagram is already well aware of that – and “Carry On My Wayward Son” by Kansas is the Supernatural theme song, so there was no way I could pass up sharing it. And of course, I had to use a Supernatural video for it, too! 😀 You’re welcome…

Now, for a bonus video! At the 2018 San Diego Comic Con, the cast of Supernatural and the band Kansas surprised fans with a live performance of “Carry On My Wayward Son.” The only video on YouTube was filmed by an audience member, but was edited to include clips from the show. It’s pretty cool to watch. Enjoy!

#SongLyricSunday ♫ “By The Way” – Theory of a Deadman

SongLyricSunday

After being gone for so many weeks from the realm of social media, it feels good to be getting back (slowly, but surely) in the saddle. What better way to “Whattup, bitches!” than with a music challenge? Btw, that sentence is only cool-point effective if you channel Charlie from Supernatural, otherwise it might just be offensive.

This week’s SongLyricSunday theme is: Goodbyes and Farewells.

If you want to join in the fun or check out all the other participants, then head on over to Helen’s blog, This Thing Called Life One Word at a Time!

My choice for this week is a few years old now, but still packs a powerful punch and I love how the video leaves everything open to interpretation. Enjoy!

A note by the door
Simply explains
It’s all that remains
It’s no wonder why
I have not slept in days
The dust on the floor
Piled up from the years
All those scars and souvenirs
Now that you’re gone
It’s easy to see
But so hard to believe

By the way
You left without saying
Goodbye to me
Now that you’re gone away
All I can think about is
You and me
You and me

It’s not like before
You’ve left nothing here
It’s all disappeared
It hurts me to see
That we’ve been a lie
Would it have hurt you to try?

By the way
You left without saying
Goodbye to me
Now that you’re gone away
All I can think about is
You and me
You and me

It’s sad to say that
This pain is killing me inside
But it’s time to say
That this pain is keeping me alive
Twisting and turning
It rips through my heart
It’s been tearing me apart

By the way
You left without saying
Goodbye to me
Now that you’re gone away
All I can think about is
You and me
You and me

All I think about now
Is you and me
You and me
All I think about now
Is you and me
You and me

By the way
By the way
By the way

AC MEDOLY, Avarice 2016-322

Devils Only.
It was a permanent note-to-self tattooed right above Kameo Kross’s panties, because anything less was a disappointment. Had anyone cared to issue the warning: Be careful what you wish for, she might have thought twice before wording it like an actual invitation.

Kami doesn’t fear pain, death or eternal damnation. She fears only submitting completely. A matter she usually has well in hand… until an unexpected detour into kink and a relentless bastard of a new boss decide to put all of her resistance–and chosen ink–to the trickiest of tests.

Run.

That’s Kami’s first instinct when shit gets a little too real for her peace of mind. Kink was supposed to be an escape, a release, but her mysterious Dom robbed her of that and there’s no going back. Her job was supposed to be an accomplishment, a step forward, but Mr. Kress took that from her and twisted it to his own design.

They want her to submit.

If Kami had her way, they’d both be kissing her ass on her way out the door. Now, there’s a new threat hanging over her head. An unknown enemy wants to expose all of Kami’s sordid, depraved secrets to the media. Little do they know, that even she has no clue who in the hell she really is…but someone does.

Someone who’s about to reveal an incomprehensible tale. A truth that will unravel Kami’s entire life at the seams. Everything she’s ever believed will be altered as she’s thrust into a world she’d never feared existed, and only one undeniable fact will ring through the loudest:

Running had never been an option.

Avarice Author Bio

A.C. Melody is a quirky, unconventional and often contrary (mostly to her muse) hybrid author, both traditionally and self-published. She has a soft spot for hard ass alphas and the strong women who capture their hearts. Her favorite part of writing, is having the ability to explore her favorite subjects from unique angles. Also, she loves putting her characters through the ringer one way or another, to expose all of the various facets that make them tick. She’s guilty of putting all her money on the underdogs, the anti-heroes and the shameless whores.

Outside of writing, A.C. is a confessed javaholic who loves reading, music, gaming, American Football, ancient civilizations, foreign cultures and everything supernatural. She has an insatiable curiosity that tends to earn her more hobbies than time. Marigny Street – Saving Angels #1

MarginyStreetCover

SYNOPSIS:

Do you believe in the power of dreams?

Way down south on Marigny Street in the heart of New Orleans, the land of Catholic intercessions, purgatory, and supernatural superstitions, young Evangeline Chenier dreams of a radiant boy who saves her from a storm.  She takes the dream seriously – in her family, dreams are sometimes more than dreams.  Sometimes they foretell the future.  Sometimes they create it.

Years later, Eva is no longer the same wistful girl but a hardened woman who no longer believes in dreams. Losing faith in her gift, she becomes lost in a nightmare of emotion, mourning her son, separating from her husband, and stewing in a dead-end job. And then fate brings her an unlikely surprise: one of the most famous movie stars in the world, Gabriel Roberts.

Caught by something in his eyes, Eva agrees to show him the real Big Easy on his last night in New Orleans—an evening that turns into four dreamy days spent recapturing lost faith and discovering a love neither expected. Realizing Gabriel is the boy from her childhood dream, Eva must leave everything behind—her husband, her family, her history, and the beautiful city she calls home—and gamble it all for the dream that has saved her on MARIGNY STREET.

EXCERPT:

I shook my head. “Tell me, Gabriel, what are your dreams about?”

“Nothing. I never dream.” He shrugged.

“Never?”

“I’ve never once in my life had a dream.  And I never look in a mirror – or I try my hardest not to anyway.”

“Why?”  How could you never dream?  Or look in a mirror?

He sighed.  “I believe the only things in this life that can truly show your reflection are the things you love the most in this world.  And I don’t love myself enough to want to look in the mirror.”  He laughed.  “But when I look at you I can see myself perfectly. And even though I never dream, I do pray.  Do you want to know what I prayed for before I met you?”

I nodded.

“I prayed for an angel – to save me.  I asked for a little help from up above, and now you’re here.  You are cake and ice cream; sugar and spice, and everything nice.  And when you smile, you make me feel the way the world looks when the sun shines through a foggy day.”

All I could do was smile.

Red Dirt Road – Saving Angels #2

RedDirtRoadCover

SYNOPSIS:

The Saving Angels Series continues…

A new cast is introduced, while journeys already taken start to merge with the present, leading you down the old Red Dirt Road.

Death has always seemed just one step behind Layla Hill, taking almost everyone she’s ever loved. After she loses the love of her life, Layla vows to never love again—how could she, when she’s a death magnet?

Trying to outrun fate traveling with her uncle Willie and his band, Layla meets Michael Roberts, a beautiful Irish boxer as gentle on the piano as he is brutal in the ring. He proves as relentless in life, fighting for a place in her world even as she pushes him away, trying to protect him from her killer tendencies.

But neither foresees the sinister presence waiting for Layla at the end of the Red Dirt Road.

EXCERPT:

“Yes, you do.  The games we both play.  The way you constantly run away from me.  How you hide in your office and watch me from afar, from behind the window blind.  Do you need me to point out the indention you’ve made?  I see you, just like you see me when I’m watching and looking for you.  I refuse to love you from afar anymore.  This is ridiculous!”

“No, it’s not!  Yes, okay, I admit, I do watch and dream about you, because it’s the only thing I can do, the only way to keep you safe and satisfy myself.  I refuse to lose you.  I won’t.”

“You’re not going to lose me.  Please, stop putting those thoughts in your head.  I cannot promise you that I’ll live forever, but I’ll try my hardest to stay with you for as long as God’s willing to allow me.”

“Which won’t be long when the universe confuses you for me and takes you from me.”

The honesty was spilling out – slightly slurred but freely given.

“There is no force in the world that could take me away from you.  I was meant for you.  I was created for you.  I can feel it.  I come alive when you’re near me.  Can’t you see that?”

He pulled my face toward his, forcing me to look at him.

“You’re killing me by forcing me away, yet you worry about my life being taken.  You can’t see that you’re doing that yourself by pushing me away!  You need to stop living life this way.  You’re wasting your gift.  Before you know it, your life is going to be over and so is mine, and there will be no going back.  So please, it would be an honor to love you, freely, without any hesitation.  You’re going to have to decide, right now: what do you want.  Do you want me to leave?  Or do you want me to stay and love you?  Let me love you!”

The choice seemed so easy – it was either life or death – but I was so confused.

“I don’t know…”

He slammed his hands against the wall.

“Tell me!  What do you want, Layla?”

Lotus Blossom Lane – Saving Angels #3

LotusBlossomLanCover

SYNOPSIS:

Life after Yuma was blissful for Layla and Michael.  After the turmoil of the old Red Dirt Road, their journey seemed to be moving them in the right direction, leading them to Ireland, Michael’s birthplace, where history runs deep and secrets run even deeper.  As the road to happily-ever-after leads them down Lotus Blossom Lane, years of entombed history starts to emerge, changing the course of their lives forever.  And the person waiting for them at the end of Lotus Blossom Lane, one of the biggest starts in the world, will bring them to the Crossroads of the Saving Angels Series.

EXCERPT:

“Can you believe this?” I closed my eyes, and the tiny specks felt like confetti falling delicately on my face.

He turned my face toward his. “Look into my eyes, Mrs. Roberts,” he whispered. “There’s nothing on this earth more gorgeous than you, in this moment. I refuse to take my eyes away from you.” He continued to search my eyes, just as if he was seeing me for the first time. “From this moment on, you’ll never be alone. Never, for as long as we fly together, will I ever let you fall.” He rested his forehead against mine.

“I love you,” I breathed onto his lips as the snow continued to fall around us, turning the earth bright white in the pitch-black darkness.

The Crossroads – Saving Angels #4

TheCrossroadsCover

SYNOPSIS:

How do you get there, darlin’? Well, na’, you start by taking Brighten Place.  Follow that road all the way down to Marigny Street.  After you travel a little distance you’ll come to an old Red Dirt Road, and that road will take you even further, to Lotus Blossom Lane, but you’ve already been that way.  Na’ you’re exactly where you should be, darlin’.  You’ve arrive at The Crossroads of your life.

Gabriel Roberts is the most famous movie star in the world.  He has everything one man could ever want.  He has everything except the one thing he feels will fulfill his purpose and complete his life.

Raphael Rose is dying of pneumonia.  As he waits on the waning clock of mortality to chime, he has a story to share.  One of star-crossed lovers he has never lost hope for.

Two doors down, Madam Catalina has her own story – a shocking past, a love of a lifetime left undone.

Locked behind the doors of Charity Hospital during Hurricane Evangeline, the tangling of souls has unraveled and left each of them at the crossroads of their life.  And in the end, whichever road they choose will lead them home.

EXCERPT:

But there is a charge between us that cannot be ignored.  It’s too strong, and there seems to be a light created from the two of us.  I don’t know if it’s the tension of issues, the heat, all of the strange occurrences and discoveries over the last couple of hours, or all of the above, but I throw myself on her.

I crush my mouth against hers, forcing her back to the wall. A slight moan escapes her mouth as she pulls me closer, runs her hands through my hair. She leaps up, her legs wrapping around my waist, her hands somehow lifting my shirt. The momentum sends me crashing into the shelf behind us. Things fall around us in disarray. But nothing else matters. She has something I desperately need.

I feel her body, all of it, her tender flesh, her nirvana curves as I run my lips back and forth against the base of her throat. I can feel the beat of the pulse beneath her skin throbbing against me. I can taste the salty sweat on her skin, but it’s mixed with sweetness, like delicious wild honey. And I can’t seem to get enough, as my tongue finds the delicate skin just above her breasts, making a trail back to her lips.

She pulls away from the kiss, my teeth lightly biting on her bottom lip. She sways back and forth with the rhythm and the rocking of our bodies moving in perfect harmony. She comes toward me again, our lips meeting in some desperate plea. Her hair falls wildly around us, only making her seem unreal. I moan into her mouth, knowing she can feel the vibration of my need against her tongue, while my fingers get lost in the thickness of her hair. I can spend my forever kissin’ on her this way, buryin’ myself, losing myself in her this way.

Sparrow Way – Saving Angels #5

SparrowWayCover

SYNOPSIS:

The final journey of the Saving Angels series has come to an end.  All roads have led you to…

“What’s the address?” she asks.

“Eleven Sparrow Way.”

She closes her eyes for a moment. “I like that. Our journey has flown us here, flown us home…”

Gabriel Roberts found his happily ever after at The Crossroads of his life. He found his brother, Michael, his history in the Legion, and the love of his life, his Evangeline. He has finally arrived at the place he always yearned for—home.

But time stops for no one; not even an angel.

For years Gabriel has guarded what is most precious to him, Evangeline and their transcendent love story. When the opportunity presents itself in an unexpected way, Gabriel decides to tell his story, and in doing so, answers the riddle of his heart: If life is the journey of years, perhaps love is the journey of a lifetime?

EXCERPT:

The concierge had arranged for us two cruising bikes so that we could explore the area and voyage to the famous restaurant that we had heard so much about.

Eva hops on the purple one, sticking me with the pink one that has a wicker basket attached to the front.

“That’s for the fly comment.” She snickers.

“Real men work pink,” I say. “Or so Brad says. He told me my coloring is perfect for pink.”

We cruise into the misty day, the sun barely shining through the many Monterey cypress trees that line the hilly area. Eva steadies her bike and releases the handle- bars. She spreads her arms wide like a bird spreading its wings.

As we peddle, I hear music in the distance floating from one of the houses on the opposite side of the street. I listen harder, trying to place the beat.

“Do you hear that?” I bounce a bit from the turbulence of the tires.

Eva grabs the handlebars. “I would never leave you alone…something, something, something.”

“Hell yeah!” I beat the handlebars with my thumbs to the heavy pace of the drums. “Eva, ‘I’ll be’…” I sing some of the song. “I love The Karate Kid! This place reminds me of the movie.”

“That’s about the only movie you do like.”

“It’s a classic, like Rocky. And if we weren’t riding these bicycles, I’d show you my karate moves! Hi-ya!” I chop the air. “What are you laughing about? You just don’t know the moves your husband has!”

“Hold on, Gabriel-san! Banzai!” Eva shouts, before we go flying down a steep street.

“I love it here. I feel like I can breathe better! The air seems lighter.”

“Don’t get used to it. “We’re not taking up permanent residency in the big shake.” I take the camera from the basket as the bole straightens out. I slow down a bit, getting a prime shot of her butt bouncing up and down on the seat. “The scenery is quite beautiful, though.”

She looks behind for a second. “Race you!” She starts going faster and I have to take the camera and throw it in the basket to peddle harder.

Born and raised in New Orleans, Annie has a habit of shortening her words and telling long stories. She speaks with a southern flair and cooks with it too. At the tender age of twenty- one, she hitched up her wagons (took her first plane ride) and moved out west to the big shake (California).

Her writing career began one sleepless night when she imagined a gorgeous woman and a man with maniacal hair floating above her like lightening bugs falling from the sky. Curious about them, their story, and why they were floating around in her head, she sat down and penned (typed) her first novel, Marigny Street. A dream come true for her, she hasn’t stopped writing since. She loves a damn good love story, always has, no matter what the genre. She is particularly moved by imperfect love that in its own unique way is perfect, the notion of love at first sight, soul mates, and things that are generally out of the norm.

When she’s not writing she enjoys dabbling in photography and finding new, inspirational music to add to her collection. Deciding on a whim to hitch up those same wagons, Annie currently resides in Texas (where everything is bigger) with her husband, daughter, and their two peculiar dogs, Boudreaux and Tabasco (who, call her crazy, bark with an accent).

Looking Forward

FB_IMG_1424159495770

I think that says it all, but don’t panic, I got this.

So it’s 2016 and rather than recapping all that didn’t happen last year, I’ve decided to focus solely on what is scheduled, or is at least a possibility of happening over the next 12 months… For starters: BOOKS!!!

I know, it’s been over a year since The Zen Lounge was published, but even though it doesn’t seem like I’ve been doing anything constructive, I really and truly have been writing like crazy.  Promise.

First up on the 2016 roster from my publisher is:

EUPHORIA

Cannot wait for the cover reveal!!!  My very first strictly BDSM novel that features a full range of characters, covering POV’s from experienced Doms and subs, switches (called Neutrals), newbie subs and just a whole lot of wickedly sexy MF/MM/FF/FMF/Menage fun.  Oh and of course, there’s a plot in there somewhere…

Our possible 2016 appearances from my publisher are:

HEARTHSTONE ALPHA

As you can probably guess from the title, it’s a Paranormal Erotic Romance that has to do with – No, they are not werewolves, you watch your mouth.  They’re Ulfrinn, Odin’s wolves.  This is the first book in the series and also introduces plenty of other supernatural beings from Greek and Norse mythology – but don’t worry, it all takes place in modern times.  No time-travel whiplash here.

LITTLE QUEEN

Second book to the Ulfrinn series, but the last with the same two main protagonists.  Hey, the rest of the pack gets their chance in the cross-hairs spotlight, too, you know.

DARK DUPLICITY

Yes, the beginning of another Paranormal/Supernatural Erotic Romance series with some mild BDSM elements.  Unlike the Ulfrinn series, this one deals with notorious historical villains, literary legends and of course, my favorite: Fallen Angels, Demons and a parallel universe.  Just go with it, it’s fun.

In the meantime, I’m not only working on the next installments for those series, but I’m trying my hand at some Indie projects.  I’m hoping to get at least one of them out before 2017!  I’ll keep you posted.  Oh, and I’m completely bored with my blog design again, so that will most likely be changing again this year.

Also, look for many more book reviews from yours truly, I’ve been strictly posting them to Goodreads & Amazon, (don’t ask me why) so I’ll be bringing the old ones over and sharing new ones here, as well – and that leads me to my final message of the night…

A toast to all the awesomesauce readers for 2016: Here’s hoping your TBR list totally gets its ass spanked.  😉
